A short path
back to control.
Start with reachability, then pairing, then the command. Far Fruit keeps those states separate so you can see what needs attention.
Before you connect
The Apple TV is awake and connected to a network.
Your Mac has a valid route to that network.
You can see the Apple TV screen when a pairing PIN is required.
You own or are authorized to control the device.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Can Far Fruit find TVs automatically?+
On a local network, Far Fruit can use Bonjour discovery when it is available. For remote networks, enter a reachable IP address or domain name because Bonjour normally does not cross routers or VPN subnets.
Why does pairing show a PIN?+
Apple TV displays a PIN to confirm that someone with access to the screen authorizes the new controller. Keep the Apple TV awake and visible until verification finishes.
Can I reconnect without pairing every time?+
Yes. Far Fruit stores the pairing credentials locally on your device and reuses them when the Apple TV and network path are available.
Does Far Fruit create remote access?+
No. You must provide a secure route—such as a private VPN—between your Mac and the remote Apple TV. Do not expose device-control ports directly to the public internet.
Does the app see my camera?+
No. A separate camera can be useful for viewing a remote television, but Far Fruit never accesses or receives the camera feed.
What should I include in a support email?+
Describe the controlling device, Apple TV model if known, whether the connection is local or remote, the address method used, and the exact message shown. Never send pairing credentials or private keys.
